BIS Upgrade could mean HTML Email, soon

June 22, 2008 - 12:37 am No Comments

RIM BIS Diagram

According to the lord of everything wireless, Boy Genius, starting June 28th, RIM plans to perform maintenance on their BIS servers. Not very routine this time, but to upgrade to the new BIS v2.5.

BlackBerry users have been long anticipating HTML Email support for their smart phones that it seemed like it would never arrive. This upgrade could mean long awaited HTML email support for BlackBerry devices. RIM is planning on upgrading their U.S. BIS system later this month, which will include a lunch-menu full of updates awaiting their new line of 9000 series BlackBerries.

Aside from the over-exhausted HTML support I’ve been rambling about, the update should include enhancements for OTA (Over-the-Air) upgrades, calendar improvements and some other stuff.

Your device, of course, will have to support all these great new features, but since we’ll all be using the Bold by this time next month, we don’t have much to worry about. :)

Daft Bodies

Everyone’s seen this video, or atleast over 4 million. But I think it’s possibly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

The girls have hot bodies too.

Nice.

220-602 = A+ IT Technician?

June 19, 2008 - 1:11 am No Comments

CompTIA A+ CertficateNo, I haven’t forgotten my basic math skills, or how to use the Calculator on Windows. The 220-602 IT Technician Exam is the second test required to becoming A+ Certified.

I didn’t really feel it was right for me to have to wait until all the other people at work felt like they wanted to take the pre-screen or the exam for me to be able to advance. I hate having my success rely on the potential of others; because, if you haven’t noticed by now, people suck really bad.

I talked to the trainer at work, Lisa, and she gave me the 220-602 book right away. She gave me a few words of encouragement and overall enlightenment. I plan on studying intensely for the next week or so and then scheduling a pre-screen for the second exam. If I pass with an 80% or better (which I hope I will) then I’m definitely going to schedule the exam for the very next week.

I can’t wait to be certified. It only makes me want to complete more certifications.

Enterprise, here I come!

Canada gets Bold before US?

June 18, 2008 - 12:02 am No Comments

Rogers Wireless LogoBoy Genius has gotten tips on a solid release date from Canadian giant wireless carrier, Rogers. The Bold is apparently being slated for release on Rogers Wireless as soon as June 25th—about a month (give or take a few weeks) ahead of the July or August release date we’ve been hearing for the State’s exlusive carrier AT&T. We hope that Mr. Genius is wrong in this case; either that, or AT&T has a trick up its sleeve and is actually dropping it like it’s hot on Monday, seeing as how we hate it when those damn Beaver Beaters put the one up on anything.

BGR assures us that it’s nothing RIM is doing that’s holding up the launch here in the states.

Get on it AT&T.

Download Day is here! Download Firefox 3.

Firefox 3 SpreadFirefox Banner

That’s right! Firefox 3, the browser that has it all, is finally here for download. With over 15,000 improvements, it has been officially released today by Mozilla; a long awaited and needed update.

The people over at Mozilla are calling out for Firefox supporter’s help; and considering all that they’ve done for us in the past (oh you know, create possibly the best web experience ever), I think we owe them one; at least enough to be there when they call us out for support.

So what it is that they need us to do for them? Simply download the new Firefox 3 web browser. Oh? Yeah. Mhmm. That’s it! Mozilla is trying to set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloads in a 24-hour period. The official release of Firefox 3 will become available for public download at 10:00 am PST, that’s only less than 10 minutes away! It will take about a week for the Guinness World Record judges to review Mozilla’s download logs so we should find out whether or not Mozilla successfully broke the record around this time next week.

Judging solely on the frantic buzz of Mozilla and Firefox supporters, I can astutely say that the record will most likely be theirs.

We at sixmode, have opted to not download the Beta releases of Firefox 3. We are very excited about this release.

Bierstick, syringe for beer?

Bierstick Girl \

The Bierstick is, oddly enough, a syringe for beer. Why? No one knows.

Astonishingly, it allows the medically-low-in-beer to gulp down 24oz. of beer in 2 seconds flat—which would also probably leave one with a very broken throat in the process, if you’re not used to large amounts of liquid flowing down your throat—and… it’s FDA approved! The most common uses would be for use in swimming pools and lingerie parties.

The Bierstick will set you back a hefty $20, on top of another $500 you would probably need to pay for the hot girls in their white bras and panties required for the proper use of the Bierstick; according to the pictures in the instruction manuals.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve already ordered myself a couple of these. I think it beats the hell out of drinking regular old beer out of a bottle.

Drink BIER!

Anything that you do in life, do it right.

And you can quote me on that quote unquote.

A+, it’s not a grade.

Computing Technology Industry AssociationI’m half way there. All that hard work, sweat, long nights, and dirty looks finally brought me to the medial point in this grand adventure towards the ultimate first step in technological advancement.

Oops sorry. I’m ALMOST certified.

Last Friday, the great Company I Work For, arranged an appointment with Pearson VUE for me to go take the Essentials 220-601 A+ exam, which is the first part to the A+ Certification offered by CompTIA.

Needless to say, I passed with flying colors; 82% B to be exact.

Technology Disappoints Me

Mainframe Virtualization

Is it just me? Or has it become incredibly easy to brute force into a NOC?

Every single time I bust into Cox’s nearest NOC it takes me like 20 minutes and then I have mainframe privileges.

Am I really that good, or does Cox’s IT suck really badly?

So I try to hateway through to Cricket’s and Embarq’s NOC: 45 minutes using brute force and I get an Administrator privilege account. 20 minutes of crawling after that and I get mainframe account privileges.

I must pwn.

A Fortune for Vista

June 1, 2008 - 9:26 pm 1 Comment

Fortune Cookie Gadget for Windows VistaAt one point in time, I thought Windows Vista was a complete joke. Everything from it’s rather resource hogging, overzealous, too-flashy-for-TV user interface to the somewhat buggy release and it’s lack of backwards compatibility, it makes me cringe at it’s very name. Vista.

I got over it all and decided to plunge in with a full fledged RTM copy and installed it on my custom box. The only thing I find myself using a lot is my nifty Gadget Sidebar.

I use all the standard stuff that comes with it such as the analog clock and the calendar; but I’ve also opted to put my CPU and memory monitor on there just to see how bad my computer lags when I’m beta testing software and such. I also downloaded a currency converter so I can see the exchange rate for when I send money to my mom in Guatemala. But the newest gadget that I just can’t get enough of is the Forunte Cookie gadget from Gadgetate!

Fortune Cookie Gadget for Windows VistaIt gives a Chinese style fortune every time you click on it, all equipped with the crunching animation to go along. It’s listed as a Game but I used it more as a tool, and anyone that likes to start off their day with a proverb, I’m sure they’ll also appreciate it.

Okay. So, I guess this is kind of dumb, but I liked it.

Go download it now!
